Group Therapy & Trauma Work

As reported in the Chico Enterprise-Record, I was part of The Northern California Trauma Recovery Network that incorporated EMDR therapy in working with those affected by trauma stemming from the 2018 Camp Fire. The fire devastated Paradise and other rural communities in Butte County, Callifornia, affecting a great number of people with anxiety, depression and PTSD type symptoms.

EMDR therapy in a group setting became our primary tool to help sufferers heal. I now work for Butte County, continuing EMDR trauma processing with groups. I have worked with hundreds in small groups at a time. We do pre-, post- and 30-day assessments with clients. One day after EMDR treatment, clients have reported as much as 49% reduction in symptoms. Thirty days later, 71% reduction. This is remarkable, as group EMDR sessions are carried out over just 5 hours on a single day (includes multiple sessions with breaks in between).
